It's not in any way a linear history book - each chapter is in a slightly different style, and treats a particular person and how they changed Paris. It starts out with Napoleon losing his virginity at the Palais-Royale, and each chapter is utterly fascinating. Did you know that <i>The Count of Monte Cristo</i> was based on a true story?
