Sriracha cookbook

I had no idea there was a Sriracha Cookbook! And the author has a blog, which I am totally bookmarking.

Not sure I really need the cookbook, as my own mental cookbook "put sriracha on as many dishes as possible," will probably suffice. But I'm sure tempted...

Here's an awesome interview with author Randy Clemens, who sounds like a great guy.

Rocket grilllllll...burning up its fuse up here alone

I rarely watch the home-shopping channels, but when I do happen to land on one, it always brings up fond and happy memories of my best friend Lisa's mom, who died a year ago of breast cancer.

She was a QVC- and HSN-watching champ, and I remember once being blown away that Lisa and I returned to her apartment in DC and her mom had sent her some cool pan for cooking chicken. She hadn't told Lisa it was coming, Lisa hadn't asked for it...her mom just saw it on the channel and thought it would be useful for her daughter, and it was. I miss her.

I happened to see HSN hawking this thing, called a Rocket Grill, today, and was kind of fascinated. You cook things in it in little parchment bags (that have to be purchased separately, of course...although I wonder if you can just make your own with parchment paper?). I figured it was a scam, but a lot of people on Amazon give it positive reviews.

I'm unlikely to buy it, but I'm kind of fascinated by such gadgets.

It's not easy being green

Apparently there's almost a cult around the grill/smoker The Big Green Egg. People love them and make almost anything possible on them.

They're pricey (about $1000), and we don't grill enough to make it worthwhile, but it's interesting to me that people love them so much. They do sound really cool.

They have an online forum where people discuss their Eggs and share recipes and tips, and even a fest where fans get together, chat, and eat.

Egg-cellent

I love these egg-faced kitchen gadgets.

I have Yolky the yolk separator, which works beautifully and was very cheap.

I don't eat a lot of soft-boiled eggs, but if I did, I know I couldn't resist getting these adorable egg cups.
