Scott, free? Not!

Scott Peterson's family maintains a Web site that tries to counter the evidence against him. It's well-done, but I don't think anyone is buying what they are selling.

They also have a blog.

And the days wear on

Good piece in the Modesto Bee about how Scott Peterson's days are spent on California's death row.

Was it really five years ago that Laci Peterson disappeared? It seemed like the murder was much more recently than that.

Sounds like his parents still support him and believe in his innocence, even though at least one of his sisters has written a book about how he's guilty. I wonder what his parents really think in their most private of hearts.

Laci Peterson latest

Laci and Scott Peterson's home has been sold again. The new owners aren't talking, and who can blame them?

Thanks to Jeff for the link!

Midnight confessions

Did Scott Peterson confess in January to Donna Thomas, a writer who's been visiting him in prison?

Apparently Thomas said he did when she appeared on Sirius satellite radio in January. She's reportedly writing a book about it.

I don't know the details, but from what I've read about Scott Peterson, I kind of don't buy it. He seems like the kind of man who will go to his grave claiming he was framed.

Weird crime news o' the day

  • Scott Peterson's lawyers still don't want Laci's mom to get her insurance money.
  • Creepy story: Man and wife celebrate her 30th birthday at bars. Then he slashes her throat in such a way that he cuts off her tongue.

Back on the block

The house where Laci Peterson was probably murdered is back on the block. Gee, I can't imagine what would keep people from wanting to live there.

Seriously, though, I can't help but think of all the dreams Laci had when she and Scott bought this house. They put in a pool, she planned to raise her kids here. The California real estate market, even in Modesto, is a tough nut to crack for a young couple, and she must have been overjoyed to start putting down roots.

Little did she know how infamous the little green house would become. Almost every room in the home has been pictured in tabloids, true-crime books and other sources. Even the Modesto Bee has a photo slideshow. Although I know the furniture in the home is not the Petersons', it gave me a little bit of a jolt to see one of our tables -- the black one with the individually stone tiled top -- in one of the rooms.
