Overachievements in marriage
This headline, "The 6 Greatest Overachievements in the History of Marriage," is kind of confusing, but it's about people who married way above them and then saw it not work out. Which sounds all class-snobbery, but when you read it, you don't feel that way. My favorite is the first one, which tells about how Princess Margaret got totally cheated on by Antony Armstrong Jones. And I'm a royal watcher, but I just had no idea what was going on there. He was conceiving children with other women? Having flings with men too? And had an enormous...um, just read the article.
Cracked.com is an amazingly good humor site, which is funny because I always thought of their now-gone print magazine as the poor man's MAD.

Real dolls
I am no doll snob -- I had Cher, the Bionic Woman, and Charlie's Angels dolls when I was a kid.
But I agree with Us Weekly -- there's something a bit off about these Kate and Pippa Middleton dolls.

Di and Charles, the early days
Never before seen photos of Diana and Charles on their 1981 honeymoon aboard the royal yacht Brittania. How little they knew, how much lay ahead.

Royal dolls
Heh, my friend Linda Holmes wrote this for NPR. It's hilarious, especially where she says "And why does Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge look so ... panicky? She looks like she's saying, "TAKE THE PHOTO! TAKE IT! A BEAR TRAP IS CLAMPED AROUND MY ANKLE!"?

A gift from a mother-in-law she'll never meet
In vitally important world news, Kate Middleton has remodeled a pair of Princess Diana's sapphire and diamond earrings, from posts to drops. I like them better Kate's way!

Jean pool
OMG! Kate Middleton wore the same pair of jeans three days in a row! You mean she doesn't have a maid standing there handing her an entirely new pair every hour and throwing the old ones away?
Oh, and if you want to mimic her denim style, you want to buy J Brand 811 mid-rise skinny leg jeans.

Crown yourself
This site sells replicas of the British Crown Jewels (including the royal tiaras), supposedly for use in plays.
I can't find their prices though...but tiaratown has replicas of the royal tiaras (and other famous tiaras) at semi-reasonable prices.
Thanks to my former co-worker Kim for the link!

I do have a masters degree in Royalology
The Oakland Tribune quotes me about the Royal Wedding. Mentions the book. This is exactly what we'd love to do more of -- be spokespeople about the pop culture of the 1970s and 1980s as it relates to today.

Royal singles
Pick a prince, any prince. Actually, not one of these dudes appeal to me. (Like I'd have a shot!)

Royal- tea
Royal-tea.
Kate and Wills take a bath in a cuppa.
Plus: Prepping for the big day
And: Betty Crocker suggests some cakes
.
Also: Diana's backup wedding gown was a little less froofy.
And to wrap up, I love this tiara/crown slideshow.

Royal lookalikes? Not so much
Yeah, they don't look so much like Wills and Kate, although he looks a little more like Wills than she does like Kate.

Kate and Wills craziness

We have a goofy slideshow of weird Kate and Wills products for the royal wedding. The condoms are the weirdest, but there are others that are right up there...
I'm not sure I like that postcard with Diana-Charles displaying the ring on her finger and then Kate-Wills doing the same. Somehow creepy.

Royal news
Prince William isn't the only royal in love, apparently. She is lovely, but both her guys look a little sketchy for a princess.

The mother tongue
Hey, Prince Harry has a Twitter account! And shouldn't one of the guys on the short list to be King of England kind of, I dunno ... speak English?
"Welcome, everybody! I should travel? No, I want travel! But I'll have meetings... Always I had! But I'm promisse that I'll go visit you!"
OK, it's almost certainly NOT him, as someone pointed out in the comments, that's not the proper Twitter verified check mark, it's just a check mark he produced. So it's a fake!

Oh, Fergie
It's a little old now, but I love Letterman's top 10 Sarah Ferguson excuses for the whole Prince Andrew influence peddling thing.
Heh, I like: "Had to buy fortnight's worth of petrol for the lorry." Because I'm a Yank, you see.

Her Royal Great-grandma

Buckingham Palace says Peter Phillips and his wife, Autumn, are expecting their first child in December, a baby who will be Queen Elizabeth II's first great-grandchild.
Autumn is the former Canadian Catholic Autumn Kelly, who had to convert to marry Peter. Also a lesson: Don't name your daughter "Autumn"! She might marry into the royal family one day and while it's kind of a cool name, it's going to look trendy and of-the-moment among all those Elizabeths and Annes.
Note that the story says: "Princess Anne turned down her mother's offer of honors (titles) for her children."Which is very Princess Anne in spirit, but I wonder if the kids cared at all? Seems like Anne didn't have trouble taking the Princess Royal title for her own, although maybe she had no choice.

Scent of a woman

What perfume did Princess Diana wear?
Seems like a simple question, but like most of us, she had numerous scents.
This page lists a bunch, including:
24 Faubourg by Hermes (which appears to date to just two years before her death)
Mitsouko by Guerlain
Isis, supposedly created for her by William Owen III (although one comment says it dates to 1970, so how could it have been created for her? She was 9 then.)
L'air du Temps by Nina Ricci
Royal Delight by Creed

Royal Delight by Creed
Royal Water by Creed, created for her
Quelques Fleurs by Houbigant (supposedly worn on her wedding day)

Heritage by Guerlain
Bluebell by Penhaligon's
Annick Goutal L'eau d'Hadrien
I would much rather smell like Diana than eat her hair in jam. Just sayin'
