This headline, "The 6 Greatest Overachievements in the History of Marriage," is kind of confusing, but it's about people who married way above them and then saw it not work out. Which sounds all class-snobbery, but when you read it, you don't feel that way. My favorite is the first one, which tells about how Princess Margaret got totally cheated on by Antony Armstrong Jones. And I'm a royal watcher, but I just had no idea what was going on there. He was conceiving children with other women? Having flings with men too? And had an enormous...um, just read the article.
Cracked.com is an amazingly good humor site, which is funny because I always thought of their now-gone print magazine as the poor man's MAD.

Steampunk wedding cake
Not really a fan of steampunk, but this steampunk wedding cake is breathtaking.

Hey, Kate, that was MY dress!
Wow, I do think these gowns are really similar, but then I thought the minute Kate stepped out that her dress was not that original.

There goes the bride
OK, so calling off the wedding with four days notice is horrible. But really, if you spent $11,000 on flowers and LIGHTING I'm not really sure you need the money back.

Here comes the ... what??
TackyWeddings.com: The name kind of says it all.
It's hard to pick just one weird one, but this Russian Goth wedding kinda stood out for me.

Here comes the bride ... into court
This sounds like it will be one of those fake urban legends, but no, indeed, the Snopes.com team found it to be true:
Bride's attempt to hang up her wedding dress results in hotel evacuation.
I sent this to my best friend Lisa, whose wedding I was in in 2007, and she responded with "Man, who knew? I think it's pretty harsh to go after that bride for the balance of the insurance claim. I've never seen a warning to not hang anything from the shower head." (As numerous readers pointed out, it was the sprinkler head.)

Dress you up
So Ivanka Trump is shaking up the wedding-gown industry because her dress has sleeves?
Man, fashion is dumb. Sleeveless wedding dresses have been haunting the bridal stores for years now, and people have been wearing them because there is no other choice, even when their arms would perhaps have benefitted from being sleeved. So, so stupid. And now one uber-rich bride has some sleeves sewn on and it's like she invented the concept. Hilarious.

Wedding bells for Pam & Jim
Pam & Jim from "The Office" have a fun wedding site.
I like the registry (so far, no one's purchased them that Porsche 911) and the photos, which include the whole Dunder-Mifflin crew.
The guestbook comments from the other characters are also entertaining.

For better or for worse
If you've watched "Bridezillas" this season, you may remember Karee, the super-obnoxious, even by "Bridezillas" standards, bride who actually challenged her mother-in-law to-be to a boxing match, which played out on-screen.
Turns out she was on probation when she filmed the show, and when an agent saw it, they put her in jail for violating the terms of her release.
The mother-in-law says the boxing was faked for the show, but that's only one of the things they nailed Karee on. And she and the groom are already estranged, within months of the wedding. Nice.

Princess Bride
I've been gorging on "Say Yes to the Dress," and I wonder if they ever have a bride that comes in and says "I want all the cliches! I want a ballgown skirt, princess frills, everything I saw on Princess Diana and in "Cinderella" when I was a kid."I know many of them are wealthy New York career women but it seems that everyone comes in wanting to look like a non-bride, super-sophisticated and sleek. And after a while, even that turns into a cliche.

Dress mess
How did I not know about "Say Yes to the Dress," a reality show filmed at Kleinfeld's massive wedding emporium in New York, before my co-worker Paige admitted her addiction to it? These women are not Bridezilla crazy, thankfully, but it still gives me my wedding fix. (The brides have dress budgets ranging from around $2000-$5000, but here's an article about David's Bridal going for the $99 dress crowd.)
The episode I'm watching right now has a Twin Cities bride who doesn't know when she's getting married and the consultant is pretty skeptical that it will ever happen. Slam!
And speaking of "Bridezillas," that show has returned! Two new episodes have aired. In one, "Bridezilla Christina has a weight minimum for her bridesmaids, who must be at least 200 lbs." Apparently the bride herself is rather large and does not want anyone looking thinner than her. Niiiiice. (I really, really hope all or most of these brides are putting on an act, a la the "American Idol" crazy auditioners, and aren't quite this insane in real life.)

The wedding is off
No one can be surprised, but Philip Markoff (the alleged Craigslist killer)'s fiancee has called off their wedding.
After his arrest, their wedding Web site became fodder for the tabloids, with everything from their registries to the wedding band choice being picked over. Now it sounds as if Megan, the fiancee who was at first the only one who remained loyal to him, has gone home to New Jersey and won't be visiting Markoff again. She'll attend med school in the Caribbean and, we presume, try to restructure her shattered life.
If he is guilty, it's strange to think that she didn't know anything, but there have been plenty of examples before of killers who led two lives. Poor woman.

You can call me al....capella
Although Andy and Angela are broken up on "The Office." their wedding Web site is still alive, and a total hoot.
The blend of Pachelbel's Canon and "You Can Call Me Al" is sheer genius, but don't miss the tour of Shrute Farms, the bit about Angela's eight cats as ring bearers, and the photo of her dress.

Romeo, Romeo
You can now have your wedding on the actual (!?) Juliet balcony, in "fair Verona, where we lay our scene."
It's a little ... small? Somehow I don't think you're getting an eight-piece band, a gift table, four-tiered cake, and Grandma doing the Hokey Pokey all on that thing.

Here comes the bride
My best friend Lisa got married in Washington, DC a year ago. Shockingly, she did not opt for the Washington Redskins wedding garter. Yikes.
Also? When you click through to the page that actually sells the garters...well, is it me, or could they have picked a lovelier leg to display them on? Either that bride is 87 years old or she has a raging case of chicken pox on her leg.
(Via Deadspin.)
