I always wanted, but never got, the Snoopy Sno-Cone Machine.

But I did have this, the Snoopy Pencil Sharpener. Seeing it, with the doghouse with the three green areas to set pencils, takes me back!

The Zinger Zapper

Signing on with the Charlie Brown TV specials was a huge win for Dolly Madison cakes, because seriously, I would never have heard of them otherwise.

Matt at Scrubbles posted a couple of old ads featuring the Zinger Zapper. Anyone who knows Peanuts can imagine what big-nosed beagle that was.

Roasted Peanuts? Good grief!

Roasted Peanuts is a blog resurrecting classic "Peanuts" strips, with commentary. I like how seriously the Webmaster takes the strips, even going so far as to dissect them into various humor-delivery styles, such as the "turnabout" or "puncturing the premise." Because I've always kind of mentally done this kind of sorting, too, and it's fun to see someone else recognize it.

The minute I found this site, I had to email it to my three closest "Peanuts" fans friends. You know who you are!

Looks like a warts-and-all biography of "Peanuts" creator Charles Schulz is due out this week.

Not sure how I feel about this. Seems like we already knew Schulz was pretty miserable most of his life -- if he wasn't, could Charlie Brown have been such a lovable loser? -- but it feels a little like disturbing his rest to dig up negative things now, even if they're true. He never hurt anyone but himself, a true Charlie if ever there was one.

No goal, eh? He was in the crease!

I don't remember this Snoopy ice hockey game from the 1970s, though of course Charles Schulz, being a Minnesotan like me, was a giant hockey fan.

But it seems to me like this is an excruciatingly small ice surface, no? I can't see kids playing this for hours, even back then when we had like two channels on TV. And note how they make the one kid just sit there and watch, since it's apparently only for two kids.

Also, what does the chubby, crabby-looking kid say at the end? I hear "Mhlgpf morhgpsd mrk." (OK, I guess he says "Some kinda hockey player that Snoopy is.")
