Rare snow day here in Seattle, so I finally got out my Sassafras clay bread pan (I have the baguette-shaped one) and am baking some bread. Using the New York Times' no-knead recipe, with some extras added.

Man, these cookies are just gorgeous, but almond and apricot are not my favorite flavors.

Wow, how awesome are these creepy Halloween cupcakes? I don't exactly have any disembodied baby-doll arms lying around, but they're probably all of 5 cents at the thrift store.

Polka dot Fruit Roll Ups

Bless you, Not Martha, for linking to this recipe for polka-dot Fruit Roll-Ups.

I don't have a fruit dehydrator, and don't really have room for one, but this almost makes it seem like a good investment.

By the way, wondering where "polka dot" came from? The Wikipedia entry says that it was indeed named for the dance, but not through any logical connection, just because the dance was popular at the time the dot pattern became used a lot. Great. Look forward to new patterns being named "the Lady Gaga stripe" and "the Glee diagonal."
