Cat snack fever

I would never pay $27 for a caramel apple, no matter how elegantly it's decked out like a black cat, but damn if it isn't cute.

We have one of those fancy caramel-apple shops in our local mall (actually, I think it's a Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory kiosk), and as tempting as those apples look, they're so outrageously priced I can't imagine buying any of them.

But wouldn't it be weird eating a cat's head? I'm just sayin'.

ever since my husband discovered he can't eat gluten or caffeine (both trigger his migraines--hasn't had a migraine since he dropped gluten), he is woefully short of treats for himself. All of his favorites (pizza, coffee, chocolate) are off limits. His new indulgance is the white chocolate carmel apples from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory. They are $7! yikes.

I wish someone could explain these to me. Williams-Sonoma has them, too. I'm sure they're good, but $27? Holy moly.

You can usually get a regular caramel apple at the Rocky Mountain Chocolate places for about $4.

Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory is waaaay overpriced, but I can testify to the utter deliciousness of their caramel apples. If you don't get something as gorgeous as the black cat, they will cut it off the stick into slices right in the store so you can walk around the mall saying "mmmmmmmm" with no muss, no fuss and no core.

I agree; I love caramel apples and I'm sure I would like these highly decorated apples as well. But, I can't imagine a situation where I would pay this much money. Maybe if I were going to either set money on fire OR have snacks, then I'd go with the snacks. But until then, I'll just have to stare at them in awe!
