Damn Alzheimer's

The Seattle Times has an obituary for Betsy Meyer, a mom of two who was diagnosed with early-onset Alzheimer's when she was just 46. She died of it at 55.

If you can, go back and read the links following her life with the disease. If you ever get overly confident that your fate is in your own hands...here is stark, scary proof that often, it is not.

One of my favorite authors, Terry Pratchett, was diagnosed with early on-set Alzheimer's this year. I can't bear to think what this means for him, his family, and his legions of fans.
