Dan Kennedy, a noted media critic who writes the blog Media Nation, has a daughter, Becky, who has dwarfism.

He has written a book, "Little People: Looking at the World Through My Daughter's Eyes," about raising her in a world that is often not kind to those who look different, and it's a fascinating and well-researched read. It's also entirely online, though you can buy it from Amazon too and give Dan a few well-deserved bucks.

I learned things, too -- I guess I never realized that "midget" is a scorned term but "dwarf" is fine. To my uneducated ears, it seems like "dwarf" is harsher and would be considered the bad term, but it has a medical meaning.
