Like so many, I was sad to see that James Doohan, a.k.a. Mr. Scott from "Star Trek," died today (in Redmond, Washington, home of Microsoft and thus the city where I work).
I wrote a farewell to Scotty on my MSNBC.com Weblog, Test Pattern, and mentioned how "Beam me up, Scotty" was supposedly never actually said in the original "Trek" series. (And Jack Webb also reportedly never said "Just the facts, Ma'am," on "Dragnet" either. Who knew?)
