Sam, you made the pants too -- oh, wait
Men, those 36-inch-waist pants may be a lot bigger than you think. Meaning YOU'RE a lot bigger than you think. (Via Boing Boing)

I love a (wo)man in uniform
In The Uniform Project, a woman wears the same dress every day for a year, dressing it up with accessories and so on to make it look different.
She'll probably get a book deal out of this if she hasn't already, but hello! We Catholic schoolgirls did this for FOUR YEARS (more if you count grade school) and no one paid us any attention.

Duh-duh, duh-duh
My co-worker Paige suggested we get Kelly this shark hat. We're gonna need a bigger boat!

What about Prom, Blaine? WHAT ABOUT PROM?
Video of a Texas Prom-goer who was led off in handcuffs for wearing a skimpy dress.
I am so, so glad I went to Prom in the 1980s, when we all tried to look as much like Scarlett O'Hara at the Twelve Oaks barbecue as possible, and when the merits of hoopskirts vs. crinolines was an actual serious pre-prom debate! Bless you, Jessica McClintock. Look, they still have a whole section on their site labeled Ball Gowns.

To a tee
Love this: Matt from Scrubbles pointed me to this great three-part journey (two, three) through the movie/TV T-shirts of Glenn Mulally's childhood.
I love how he sums it all up at the end.
"So... in summary what have we learned?- I wore shirts. I lived in the 1970s. Sometimes the shirts that I wore in the 1970s had pictures of characters from television and movies on them. A few photographs survive of me wearing said shirts."

Hee haw indeed
When my parents took me with them on a business trip to Nashville in the 1980s, we stayed at the Opryland Hotel, adjoining the Grand Ole Opry. While there, we attended a taping of "Hee Haw." No, really. Yeah, I know. It was kind of fun, though, Minnie Pearl and all.
But the poor kid who had to wear these Hee-Haw overalls would have been the uncoolest kid in school, in any school.
Notes one comment: "And by all means, wear your Hee-Haw overalls without a shirt to complete the look."

V is for Vera
I found out at book club not too long ago that Vera Wang now has a clothing line carried at ... Kohl's, of all places! Who knew? It seems like a bit of a step-down for the designer of such tony bridal wear, but then again, Martha discovered she can make big bucks at the Big K.
Of course, there aren't any Kohl's locations terribly close to me (Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood has the closest), but you can check out the Simply Vera line here.

Come see the dorkier side of Sears
I've linked to It Came from the 1971 Sears Catalog before, but it's worth another look.
