OK, I know nothing about science, but does it seem just wrong to anyone else that "on a hot day the interior temperature of a cucumber can run 20 degrees cooler [than air temperature]"?
Next time that summertime mercury starts pushing 100, just climb inside a cucumber! Kind of the opposite of that scene in "Empire Strikes Back" where Han Solo stuffs a freezing Luke inside his dead Tauntan lizard thing to keep him warm. Only, uh, minus the entrails and blood and guts and stuff.
