You may have read this recent "For Better or For Worse" comic strip in which Apri's friend Becky (formerly dogged for being a "gig" and "roadside," a.k.a., a slut) sang at their 8th-grade graduation (sorry, sorry, in Canada that would be "grad," as Lynn Johnston says 800 times a strip).
But if you just read the strip, you didn't get the entire effect. It seems that Johnson actually had someone put her lyrics to music and had someone record it, singing as Becky, and you can download the song and listen to it. Multi-media comic strips! Also, "innocent wildhood"? Becky may be a pretty OK singer, but I guess maybe she is roadside after all.
