In case you didn't get enough stupid slang when Becky was "a gig" and "roadside," now April heads off to her new school where everyone's talking like rappers from three years ago. So hip! So fresh! So ... roadside!
As someone said in the comments, the new letters from the Patterson family are up. Liz's letter is about the only one worth commenting on, and she claims she's "dealing with the assault" in her own way. Howard may be going to jail, she says, because he's done this before. And Liz went to a counselor! Who told her to flee, flee back to Mtigiiwhatsit and "get some perspective." She also won't talk about the Anthony thing, saying "I'm dealing with that, too."
Elly at least seems shocked, and she reports that Howard had made nasty remarks about Lawrence (and Nick, who I guess is his work and life partner?) being gay. But of course, he couldn't fire him. (Why the heck not? Oh, OK, I guess he "allegedly" said the things. But still!)
Oh, "For Better or For Worse," your name truly does say it all. Some days, you're better, others, you're worse.

What a cop out! I had hoped for a week's worth of strips explaining what happened after the attack. But I would have settled for only one strip quickly explaining that Liz is bringing Howard up on charges and what her answer was to Anthony. What a let down.
Oh, dear lord, today's strip might be the end of me. I don't know where Lynne is getting her "lingo" but she really needs to stop trying so hard. Nothing else about the strip is remotely based in reality, so why bother with this?
Gael, the "talking like rappers from three years ago" line cracked me up. I can only hope Lynn is poking fun at herself for her made up Canadian slang.
Lesson for adults: Do Not try to talk like "the kids." Once you're over 16, it's just pathetic. They know it, even if you don't.
Signed,
31 and learned this lesson a long time ago
I think the letters is one to to cop out on writing a decent comic strip storyline.
I agree. Are we never going to hear more about this? Most people don't read the monthly letters, so they don't know Liz pressed charges. This would send out the message that, if you get assaulted, you should just ignore it and "go on with your life." That's not a very responsible message to send. If you're going to be like that, why have the storyline in the strip to begin with?
i don't know what's worse, the fact that she wrote one of her background extras saying 'shizzle' meaning shit, or the fact that april, despite actually being their peer, doesn't get it in the least.
The letters are awful. I'm almost certain Deeana's second pregnancy only played out in the letters. It was a true WTF? moment for me when Robin was born.
I luuuve your comments on FBoFW, so true!
If you like that family, have you been following 'Funky Winkerbean'? The story has been compelling, especially the THREE WEEKS that guy was stuck on a land mine, pure genius...not. If it had lasted maybe four days, that would have been suspenseful, but damn! Three weeks!?!? I got sick and tired of that sheet.
Deanna and Michael are killing me! Deanna weaned both her kids way too early, the kids spend way too much time at daycare, and when they do get to go home, they don't even get to see their father, who's always off "writing." But see, if it wasn't for the letters to tell me what awful parents they are, I might even like those two.
