Perfect storm

Oh, God bless the Onion. Right after 9-11, they came firing back with the infamous "terrorists in hell" story, and now after Katrina, they offer up this.

Best headline: "Government Relief Workers Mosey In To Help," ("Follow-up teams of emergency relief workers are expected to begin ambling into the Gulf Coast region as early as this weekend."). Second-best: "Bush Urges Victims To Gnaw On Bootstraps For Sustenance."

And the headline on their cover, not reflected in the click-through, is pretty great, too: "Area Man Drives Food There His Goddamned Self." And while I can't find it now, I swear at MSNBC we ran a story about a guy who did just exactly that.

Don't remember all the details, but yeah, they were interviewing the guy on NPR today (Wednesday). He and some friends filled their car with bottled water, stole a press pass, and snuck in to bring water to people and also evacuated some injured to Baton Rouge (including a guy who had been attacked by fire ants).

This probably isn't the same story you're thinking of, but a couple of people from Michigan have done the same thing:
