Sleepless in Seattle tonight

Oh yeah, baby. Seattle Seahawks. First time ever. SUPER BOWL. Rob and Dan were there, wearing jerseys and screaming from overpriced, nosebleed seats, but somehow I bet every screech, every squint, was worth it.

As a lifelong Vikings fan, I have seen my hometown team go to the big game (and lose, and lose, and lose, and lose again) before. Switching sports for a minute, I actually saw the Twins win the World Series in person, at the Metrodome, in 1991.

But I have to say, as a Seattle transplant, I've grown kind of fond of this team, and I'm pretty over the moon about this. There was a great scene during the telecast with about five or more minutes remaining when Fox popped up a list of the NFL teams that had never been to the Super Bowl -- there are only about a half-dozen. And then one of the announcers said "well, you can take your pen and cross Seattle off that list," and they took one of those magic TV pens and drew a line through the word "Seattle" on the list. That's really when I knew, more than the scoreboard, more than the game clock.

I'm looking forward to seeing how crazy this sedate, educated, latte-sippin', Windows codin' town can get over the next few weeks. Keep the espresso machines hopping, because you're not going to want to miss a minute of this one.

As a lifetime Steelers fan, I barely made it through the game. I think this Super Bowl's going to be a good one!

As a lifelong Cleveland Browns sufferer, I am genetically incapable of rooting for the Steelers, so GO SEAHAWKS!

Go Seahawks! I can't believe we're headed to the Superbowl. My house was going crazy last night, and I know it's gonna be one huge party come Superbowl Sunday. Can't wait!

oh man, I'm jealous about 1991...

Since the Patriots can't make the Superbowl this year, I'll be rooting for Seattle.

I am a Pittsburgh fan, but I'm sure it's going to be a great game! Looking forward to it. Also, I am glad to see a team that has never been to the Big Dance before, have a chance to do so.

Congrats to both the Seahawks and my Steelers!

Congratulations...I, too, have known the joy of Coach Mike leading my team to the Big Game. Sweet, ain't it? Jeez, we miss him in Wisconsin.

But...it just me, or has Holmgren really started to resemble Richard Riehle from Office Space?
