None of your lip, missy

Lip Smackers are different now than when I was a kid. We had the semi-giant ones, which you could wear on cords around your neck. Popular flavors included 7-Up, Tootsie Roll, and Orange Crush.

Now, Lip Smackers are tiny. Target sells them in trios sometimes, three different flavors in one little pack. The flavors are less single-flavor focused and seem to be heavy on blends, such as these vanilla-cream twists. But they still have familiar products as flavors -- check out this M&M chocolate trio (hmm, I have a friend who might just love these) and the familiar soda flavors, including Orange and Grape Crush, Dr. Pepper, 7-Up and others. They also have funky Liquid Skittles flavors and Jell-O flavors.

I have to admit, unlike Napoleon Dynamite, I never had much trouble with mah lips hurting real bad. I only wore LipSmackers because they were cool and smelled good, not for any lip-tending reason. But for a teen trend, they were pretty cheap and harmless, and I may just have to pick up one or two again.

Dr. Pepper lip smackers were the ultimate cool in third grade. I had a tendency to lose them, and so had at least six available at all times.. Carried them around my neck, as it was meant to be.

This was probably nine years ago, and I still find them around the house every once in a while.

I love the Lip Smackers. I'm 32 years old and I still use them. My fave being Dr. Pepper flavor. Have fun!

Get the Dr. Pepper. It gives your lips a really pretty rose tint and tastes yummy. I think I'm on my third tube so far.

I will be 43 in a few months and I am wearing good ol' Pink Lemonade flavor LipSmackers right now. I've always had unbearably dry lips, and LipSmackers are the only thing that make me human again. My mother still gets Dr. Pepper LipSmackers in her stocking from Santa every year. We can't abide the blended kind.

If you knew the anguish in our house when they quit making the great big LipSmackers, Gael ... I stalked a particular discount store for two YEARS after I discovered a stash of big strawberry LipSmackers there twice. Those could last me a whole year if I was careful. The little ones now, about six months. Grrr.

And yes, I've already given my niece some LipSmackers for her first birthday. Because we have to start her out right.

Ooh, speaking of funky Skittles-flavored products?

If you can get your hands on some Skittles bubblegum (http://www.skittles.com/products/bubblegum.jsp) DO IT. It sounds like a terrible idea, and it does seem a little strange at first, but those suckers are delicious.

Liquid Skittles? Kind of sounds like a symptom...
Actually my husband is a chap-stick/blistex fiend, and uses one everyday, but he can't seem to ever keep one handy (he loses them with keys, etc). Maybe a Smackers Trio is just the solutions because a) it's fun/hip/tasty, b) he'd always have a spare. Now if I could just find the old school ones to hang around his neck!
Love your blog...

My friend has the chocolate M&Ms special smackers, and just as a heads up, we can always tell when she puts it on by the plastic-y chocolate smell it gives off. However, the tube is cute, and she seems to really like it, so thats what matters, right?

Oh, I wish they were making those huge tubes again. The small ones just aren't the same! I loved my ginormous tube of Bubble Gum flavor, and yes, I wore it around my neck.

I loved the holiday tube and remember getting so mad when there wasn't one in my stocking. Then one year my mom got me a diffent brand of scented balm...they came in tiny tins with a sliding cover. Do you remember what they where called? They had an incredible lemonade scent. I wish I could get a hold of some!

Lip smackers never did that much for me. I'm a 'village' tin gloss gal myself. However, I do like their fancy 'lip slicks' because they're very moisturizing and the vanilla seems sexy.

They still do giant ones! They're not easily found but I bought a brand new strawberry one, four times the size of the usual! It was only £3, I think its special edition... they might sell them online.

Lip smackers! A beauty standby of mine since I was 15 (1983) and I still wear them. Some things, you shouldn't have to outgrow. They smell/taste divine, make my lips soft as petals, and make my lips glow like jewels. Great stuff, even if I'm no longer 15. Back in the day, they had the small ones too, mostly sold in sets of three, but the big size was the standard size and the small ones were the "minis." And yes, I wore some of mine on the cord!
