A dog's life

I simply cannot wrap my mind around the fact that every night children in this country go to bed hungry, and yet we have filet mignon Milk Bones. "Made with real filet mignon!"

Don't get me wrong, I love animals, and had I a dog, I might even buy them. It's just...filet mignon!

And typing those words reminds me of a mnemonic I learned from a copy editor at my first journalism job. To help us remember that, when referring to beef, "filet" had one "l," and when referring to fish, "fillet" had two , she would remind us "One if by land, two if by sea."

Don't panic.
Number one, "Filet Mignon" = beef + bacon.

Number two, "Made with real Filet Mignon!" = 1 4-oz steak per 2000 packages of dog treats.

Notice, they aren't made "Made OF real Filet Mignon!"

Number three, all these dog treats, regardless of the "flavor", look and smell like Play-Doh to a human being..

I love that little learning device. My dad taught me how to keep desert and dessert straight when I was a kid(one S = Sahara, two s= strawberry shortcake).

i got the dessert thing too, only my mom taught me that desserts had to have two "s" because the extra "s" was for "sweet."
moms sure are cute.
