When funky means sad

Is anyone but me reading "Funky Winkerbean"? A character named Lisa went through treatment for cancer years ago (the strips were collected into a book, "Lisa's Story," that I'd really like to read).

And now her cancer has returned, as it so often does for those of us in the non-comic world, and she's dealing with another round of treatment, of facing again a monster she thought she'd put behind her. Not your normal comic-strip material, but very well-done.

Funky Winkerbean has been one of my two daily must-reads for more years than I'd care to admit (OK, Les Moore was getting his driver's license at the same time as I was. . .). I agree; Lisa's current story is really well-done, but heart-rending.
