For COUNTING DOWN

So we've all been bracing for years for Lynn Johnston to shut down "For Better or For Worse." assuming she'll end it with Liz's wedding and those title lines.

Now it looks like she's finally announced a countdown: There's a year left, a year of Granthony and April saying "AN' ", a year of Liz being the most attractive woman around and Mike being SuperJournalist, of Deanna never admitting she intentionally got pregnant and lied about it, you know, all that good stuff. (Thanks to the very kind and very Anonymous reader who sent me this link)

It seems like she's already trying to hurry it along by cramming both Grandpa Jim's storyline and the Liz-Granthony trial saga into the same panels.

I guess I'm still confused. Is it just that the strip won't be carrying on in real-time?

From the linked article: "Fans will be delighted to know that the strip will not end. Rather, it will continue as a still-being discussed hybrid of some earlier, little seen work along with some new material."

i understand that they're canadian, but is that really enough of an excuse for the outrageous suspension of belief required to believe that liz doesn't find granthony's passage-of-time moustache a deal-breaker? please.

Mike-- Yeah. It'll be like 'Zits' or 'The Family Circus'-- no one'll change ages.

In some cases (Zits, say) this works OK, but others, not so much. We Shall See.
