100 Grand goes nuts

I still mentally call the "100 Grand" bar the "$100,000 bar," remembering back to before they changed the name. It's always been one of my favorite candy bars, not that I eat much candy -- it has chocolate, caramel, and crisped rice -- what's not to love?

And now, apparently, some versions of it have coconut. Which I also love. People who love Samoa Girl Scout cookies apparently say it tastes similar. So I'm hoping I spot this version somewhere in a store near me.

We found out about it this morning when we stopped to get coffee and the barista was talking it up. Such a Seattle way to get your news.

The 100 Grand was always one of my favorites - I nominated it for Favorite Candy Bar in a 3rd grade poll and was its sole vote.

Anyways. I tried this coconut one. Samoas are also my favorite Girl Scout cookie, and it wasn't much like that. The cocount was more of the "I am eating this candy bar while my hands are smeared with Hawaiian Tropics sun tan lotion."

But I'm always willing to eat any weird candy bar. I spooted Snickers Dark a couple weeks ago and didn't manage to try it - I'm on the hunt.

I'm so glad I saw this before I went to the corner store yesterday. Specifically, you mention that "some versions" have coconut. The 7-11 I went to had only this version, and I just about hyperventilated thinking that they'd ruined one of my favorite candybars.

I love coconut in candybars (don't get me started on why-oh-why Mounds can't have almonds...dark chocolate and almonds is an awesome combo), but I can't bring myself to taste a bastardization of my dear 100 grand.
