Banana soldiers?

Did Bob Marley steal the "Buffalo Soldier" melody from the "Banana Splits" theme song? (Come on, like stoners didn't watch that show!)

Oh, this is such an awesome musical plagiarism scandal, so much better than the Avril Lavigne one.

Whoa!

You're right - this is so much more interesting than Avril's!

Gael,
Sorry to veer so far off topic, but I was searching for a Fargo poster and stumbled upon your question on MetaFilter:

I saw that someone else found the poster you were looking for. I am considering ordering it, but I wanted to make sure it was a quality poster first (the image looks a little dark).
Thanks,
Matt

Yep, I ordered it, and it looks just fine to me, but sadly it's still in the tube. Haven't gotten around to framing it yet!

Hooray! There are others out there who think "Buffalo Soldiers" sounds waaaayyy too similar to the "Banana Splits" theme song! And here I thought I might be crazy.

I realize that this doesn't dispute the fact that I'm completely round the bend, but at least I know I'm not alone.

And I still have the issue of the "Jonny Quest" theme song lifting part of its music from Benny Goodman's "Sing Sing Sing" to preach to the unbelievers.....

Bob Marley borrows from Fleegle, Bingo, Drooper and Snorky... who would have thunk it! I played both songs in my head and was amazed by the similarities of their choruses.
