I find the Online Parallel Bible fascinating: It shows you any bible verse in 10 or so different translations.
Here's my favorite verse, Ruth 1:16-17 -- it was read at my wedding -- in all the different translations. The meaning doesn't change that much, but the melody and rhythm of the words makes a big difference from translation to translation. Try it for other verses you like.
