Look, I work for a news Web site, and it's far from perfect, I know. But the St. Paul Pioneer Press Web site, that of the newspaper in the town I was born in (and where numerous friends work), is driving me around the bend.
First, you go there and it runs a flipper box changing between five different stories. You have to kind of wait to see all five, because the buttons that are supposed to let you advance don't ever work, at least for me. You may see a story you want to read and click on it, and it won't take you there, just keeps on advancing. And it doesn't give you a non-flipper option way to see the five stories, not that I can find, at least.
Then, in the style of all obnoxious news Web sites, it makes you register. So I registered, and instead of letting me go read stories, it keeps insisting I haven't registered.
Also, it has tabs at the top of the site, which work as poorly as the flipper box. I've been pretty adept at moving around Web sites for 10+ years now, but almost every single time I try to go to, say, the Life & Culture tab, then it forces me to pick a specialty from within L&C. I try, gently moving down to the options, and it ALWAYS jumps me out of that tab, no question. And as with the damn flipper box, there does not seem to be a more user-friendly option to get to your favorite features.
And all I want is a little hometown news, dammit.

Yep, I know all about it, but NONE of the BugMeNot logins worked. Trust me, I tried.
And this is why my homepage is startribune.com. The Pioneer Press website is just... no. I can't deal.
