Kelly Kelly Kelly Kelly

Woody from "Cheers" wrote The Kelly Song for his rich girlfriend, and when people who loved that show hear Kelly's name, they always want to sing it to her.

Honestly, this song is the first thing that popped into my brain when I read you'd named your daughter Kelly. Or any time I meet someone with that name, or read it somewhere. It's like a post-hypnotic suggestion: "Kellykellykellykelly K-E-L-L-Y..."

You've made both of my Kelly references so far! This song, of course, and "Has anybody here seen Kelly? K-E-double-L-Y..."

Congratulations; she's gorgeous!

I have heard this song for the majority of my life. It gets really REALLY old. I think that I can speak for the other Kellys of the world when I say: Please stop! It's not funny and I'm getting really tired of faking amusement.

Congrats on the baby!

Heh! OK...what Annie said. Too funny. I thought about admitting this to you or Rob, and then thought "nahhh"...

Hi Gael! I have loved your Test Pattern column for a long time and for some reason only recently found out about your blog! Congrats on your Kelly Girl! I am a Kelly Girl as well. I have had the Cheers song sung to me many a time, and it doesn't bother me one bit! When I was younger I liked my name until I met a boy named Kelly - I begged my mom to let me change the spelling (Kellie, Kelli, Kelley) but no dice! (: Now I don't mind so much and my married name, Hennessey, makes me sound like I just arrived from the green hills of Ireland! I have a 2 year old - it goes fast so enjoy every moment!! - Kelly Hennessey of Bothell
