The sad tale of Dinosaur World

Secret Fun Blog tours an abandoned ... amusement park? Roadside attraction? Bizarre bit of Americana?

I don't know, but it's worth a read if only for lines such as "the props have no regard for dimensional continuity" and "the caveman torso lookouts are losing the battle."

my wife and i spent an afternoon at dinosaur world on our honeymoon. (which was a road-trippy sort of affair.) it was just amazing. some of the dinos had sort of modern restylings via new coats of paint, and some were ancient - and were really more like folk art. the king kong with fay wray was almost the best thing though. the place is huge - covering acres and acres of hillside, with one or two lakes, as well. one lake even had a giant concrete octopus. i've gotta scan in our photos sometime...
