With this ring

Rob and I didn't get our wedding rings engraved, but sometimes I think it would be a nice thing to do, if we could think of something we'd always want to see there.

Here is a list of inscriptions one jeweler has carved in wedding rings. Some are gorgeous ("My dream came true," "Wheresoever she was, there was Eden"), but some are just embarrassing ("The toys are LEGALLY mine!", "Grumpybutt Life W/O Parole," "Rumpshaker").

My husband's ring is inscribed "My one and only squeeze." Don't know how he got on the "squeeze" thing, but our wedding song was Sting's "My one and only love," so it was a play on that.

Okay, I give up...what does ILUSH stand for? I'm assuming it's not for those who married strangers in Vegas in a drunken stupor....

ILUSH = "I Love U SweetHeart"??

Hm... I believe "Wheresoever she was, there was Eden" is actually a line from Mark Twain.

My husband's and mine say "Mo Anam Cara" which is supposed to translate to "My Soul Mate"...I told him it was really Gaelic for "Soybean Paste" but he didn't buy it.
You wouldn't believe how many times the jeweler had to call to verify the spelling...we almost had two sets of typo rings.
All that and it turns out my husband's allergic to the metal and can't wear his. Rats.

My fiancee (eep, that still sounds so weird!) and I have been talking about what we might get engraved in our wedding rings.

Suggestions have ranged from the sweet-but-dorky ("The primroses were over"/"The primroses were just beginning to bloom" from Watership Down) to the unromantic-and-dorky ("Fear of death is the beginning of slavery" - RA Wilson, or "For the everlasting glory of the infantry" from Starship Troopers) to the astonishingly dorky (Should we get it in Quenya or the International Phonetic Alphabet?) I think it's clear that we are a perfect match because no one else would have us.
