Flavor-aid

Doritos has a mystery flavor out in black bags. Apparently last year's flavor was CHEESEBURGER, which sounds just disgusting.

This year's looks like plain corn chips, and then when you taste them, they overwhelm you with lime. I thought this site's guess of margarita was right on target, but apparently not. The site says they are MOUNTAIN DEW flavored. MOUNTAIN DEW flavored Doritos?

It's no wonder they call it a mystery flavor, because who would buy these? They actually don't taste horrible, but not a good flavor decision, Frito-Lay. Not good at all.

Mountain Dew chips?! What's next, Frito flavored pop? Sounds gross either way.

Thank you for posting this! My husband and I have been trying to figure out what the flavor was supposed to be (other than NASTY).

I thought last year's flavor was actually really good. It tasted just like a McDonald's cheeseburger :)

Those cheeseburger Doritos were actually pretty tasty. I haven't tried these new ones, but I'm not enthusiastic if they are in any way Mountain Dew-esque. Blech.

The cheeseburger ones tasted like hot dogs with the works. Not bad, surprisingly. I'll have to settle for Japan's wealth in Taco Doritos. *sigh* What a meal these could have made together...

Oh, the Cheeseburger w/ Pickles WAS disgusting. Words will never be able to define what biting into that first chip was like.

As someone who took design and advertising classes in school, from that standpoint Frito-Lay is a genius company. I've had more people visit my site in the past 3 days than I usually get in a month. Sure, the taste of their mystery chips is disgusting, but leaving it a mystery has sparked more interest in their chips than they've probably had in years.

It's funny though. I would have gladly bought more bags of a margarita flavored corn chip, yet I find myself hesitant to ever pick up another bag of Mountain Dew flavored chips.

I have to disagree....my family tried the ones last year & they were GREAT! I wish they were a regular flavor. We bought some of "The Quest" doritos yesterday to give them a try. They are a little too sweet for my taste, but overall not bad.

I grabbed some of these on a whim at the grocery store the other night, and we just couldn't figure out what the hell the flavor was, other than some overwhelmingly sweet candy-like weirdness. Not even my 15-year-old son will eat them, and he likes all sorts of weird crap...

Actually, the cheeseburger doritos were really good. They tasted like a whopper, you could taste a grill flavor and pickles. Weird but good.
