Link in the chain

Yes, we live in the city in part so we can be big ol' snobs about not having to eat at chain restaurants. (KIDDING.) But in the chain world, I just discovered Maggiano's Little Italy, and for a chain, it's really pretty good! I tried the Rigatoni D, with chicken, mushrooms and caramelized onions in a Marsala cream sauce, and it was awesome!

Strangly, they have almost the exact same dish with a different name (Carmela's Chicken Rigatoni) at Romano's Macaroni Grill (same owner as Maggiano's) and it's only a sad imitation of the original. Not that I know which was the original. But that sounds better.

We just ate at Trader Vic's for the first time last night, and I was pleasantly surprised at what a cool experience it was - the food was fantastic, the service was top-notch, and it was reasonably priced...no chain suckiness to be found!

We have Maggiano's in Chicago, and my parents love it! (I like it too, but don't go too often.)
