Getting ready for the Fair

I don't really believe the specific foods in Newsweek's photo gallery are ALL of the Most Unhealthy Carnival Foods, because they don't include half the deep-fried random crap at the Minnesota State Fair.

But I'm willing to buy that these would make the Top 50.

Funnel cake (#6) was never something we ate -- and I don't think I've ever seen it sold as it appears here with apple pie filling or whatever on top. But those are some damn gorgeous snowcones (#5), true works of art.

Would a twelve-ounce sno-cone really have five and a half ounces of syrup in it? I've never had a sno-cone made with that much syrup, even at a fair. Iowa and Wisconsin State Fairs included.

Too bad that they only went for general fair food, and not regional fair junk. Last year at a county fair in Maine they were serving deep fried Whoopie pies topped with ice cream, and whipped cream. I'm amazed that it didn't cause my to instantly develop diabetes.
