Horse whisperer

In general, I'm a fan of Dominick Dunne, and it still angers me that his daughter's murderer is free today (and was a chef in Seattle after he got out of jail!).

But he really got the Chandra Levy story wrong, writing years ago in Vanity Fair about how a "horse whisperer" told him Levy's body was dropped into the ocean from a private plane.

Of course, her bones were later found in a D.C. park, and the man they believe murdered her (not Gary Condit), a prison inmate, has been charged.

I used to be a fan of Dominick Dunne until I read something he wrote about the Laci Peterson case. Someone had asked him if he planned to cover the trial, and he said he wouldn't bother, because only famous people interested him. I lost all respect for him at that point. As someone whose daughter was murdered by her boyfriend, I would think he'd be interested in every case where a husband or boyfriend murders his wife or girlfriend. Fame didn't have anything to do with the tragedy in his life.
