I'm trying to think of a reason anyone would spend $130 on a typewriter in 2009. Maybe if you fill out a lot of forms that can't be scanned as .pdfs?

I used to have a bunch of my Grandpa's old architectural digests from that era. Not the cool Danish modern flair you would expect, but lots of heavy ugly furnishings throughout (mostly French Provincal-so not a fan). My guess is the mad men people picked and chose the best of the era and ignored many aspects.
