I haven't explored this, but Ultimate Insult linked to this site that reportedly lets you watch UK television for free.
This could really come in handy for those times when you hear about a great UK show that we can't see here, or just when you want to be transported to another culture for a while.
Now if only I could find a similar site for Japanese TV...with subtitles! Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?

This site only works in the UK and if you have a valid "TV license"...
In the UK, you have to pay a yearly fee if you own a TV, which goes to pay for programming on the BBC and other such gov't funded channels...
I'm an American living in Ireland, and while I can turn on the TV and watch the BBC, I can't stream from the BBC website cuz of my IP address...
same goes for this website, except there's the added restriction of having a TV license... I wonder how they check that...
It's probably the same from the US...
