I had no idea that the term "Darby and Joan" meant a happily married, placid couple, or even a younger couple who preferred to stay in rather than go out and party.
If Kelly hadn't been named Kelly, Darby was our second choice.

I have heard the term but never knew what it meant.
Picked this up reading Anthony Trollope novels -- he was very fond of this image and used it many times.
