Frankly, my dear, I DO give a damn

Engrossing online exhibition of some of the dresses and other costumes from "Gone With the Wind."

I especially love that they fitted Scarlett's wedding dress (from her wedding to Charles Hamilton) on the actress who played Ellen O'Hara, since Scarlett's war-breaking-out wedding would have been planned hastily and she would have worn her mom's gown. And how they gave it extra-large sleeves, reflecting the fashions not of Scarlett's day, but of Ellen's. Smart.

Walter Plunkett was one of the greatest costume designers of the Golden Age, particularly for period films. Not only the iconic costumes of Gone With the Wind, but his brilliant, brilliant work in Singin' in the Rain. Just incredible.

Big fan of GWTW. That sprigged muslin dress that Scarlett wears in the porch scene and to the barbeque has always been the most beautiful dress I've ever seen. That amazing green velvet sash that ties in the back...the way it moves...that awesome hat...that beautiful neckline. It's my all-time favorite dress. Thanks for the link, Gael. :)
