Brian Anderson was my first real boss, and we got along from the start. I always had a true, fond respect for him, not just as a magazine editor or an employer, but as a person.
Weird things inevitably happen in any workplace, and whenever they did, I always felt like he and I were on the same side, kind of staring at them, wondering "how did THIS happen?" We were never antagonists.
In a world where far too many people with any kind of power are unscrupulous and uncaring, he never was.
He's far too young for this sad news.
