Jacob's hope

They've found "items of interest" in the dirt collected during the Jacob Wetterling case investigation.

Which is great, but seriously, if they couldn't find SOMETHING to look at in six truckloads of dirt, I'm floored. I don't have a lot of hope that it'll solve the case.

As someone who grew up in MN that case has always had a piece of my brain. Any mention of him always brings back a flood of memories. I was 15 when he was taken.

Just read the wikipedia page on him and the last line is chilling: "If Jacob is still alive he would be 32 years old today."

As someone roughly the same age, this case has a piece of my brain, too. As a parent, this case haunts a piece of my brain. Mom says no, dad says yes, son never comes home. And his poor brother and friend, who live with the memory of that night. And 21 years later, what do you hope for? That your child is alive, but as a 32 year old, so warped and twisted by their experience, they don't even have the wherewithall to find you? Or do you hope that they were quickly killed? I honestly don't know how his parents have survived. I pray for this case to be solved, just so they can find some measure of peace.
