I actually don't think this is a terrible marketing idea. Papa Murphy's, the take-n-bake pizza place, offers up cookie dough as a side order with its pizzas...they figure you have your oven on anyway, so...

Been there, done that. It's a great deal and an excellent example of impluse shopping as they have the little buckets of dough in the cooler right by the register.
Although, I must admit that the oven never came into use when preparing the cookie dough. All I needed was a spoon!
