Joan Didion's sad "Year of Magical Thinking" chronicled what happened to her when her husband suddenly died. Shortly after, her daughter, Quintana Roo, also died, suddenly and at a young age.
Now Didion has somehow managed to write a book about that loss, too. I'm sure I'll read "Blue Nights," but I can't exactly say I'm looking forward to it. It's sad that she had to write it at all.
Notice how similar the two book covers are.
