OK, I just discovered ABC's summer reality show, "The Scholar," and I love it. It takes a batch of super-smart kids, the kind with 4.99 GPAs and 8 million extra-curriculars, and tests them in various ways, with the big winner getting a full scholarship to a prestigious college.
I love the kids, who are all brains of course, because they're used to working hard and are well-mannered kids who are used to succeeding. The're accustomed to getting respect, so they give it to others. They're more reminiscent of first-season "Real World" cast members than any young-un on a reality show since then.
The tasks don't involve eating live octopus or bungee jumping, instead they make a student film based on a Shakespeare quote, or take a test about presidents, vice-presidents and the Constitution.
I, uh, also must confess to a wee bit of a crush on bushy-eyebrowed Davis, the wannabe future U.S. president who's perhaps the cockiest of the group. Yeah, ask anyone, that's the kind of guy I always go for.
