Damn, I wish the Kelpfroths would sue Mike, eviction notice or no. Or they'd just complain to the paper, and Mike would get written up on Romenesko as an example of a bad journalist. Wouldn't that be justice?
I don't understand what's so awful about the Kelpfroths (besides a pretty lousy last name). So they asked the Pattersons to not keep the strollers and toys in the hallway -- so what?
I went to journalism school. I don't think Mike did anything unethical since it was a feature piece and he didn't mention names. It's not libel because it was true. It doesn't fall under the invasion of privacy rules because he didn't mention names.
Sure, the Kleproths will probably sue. I think that's where this story is leading. But there's not a chance in hell they would win. Besides, if they don't want anyone to know about it's them then they really don't need a court case.
I'm an entertainment editor at MSNBC.com, and have maintained Pop Culture Junk Mail since August, 1999. The New York Times called the site "one of the best places to explore pop culture online," and Entertainment Weekly included it on their Top 100 Web Sites list. If you like weird food, strange products, and 1970s and 1980s nostalgia, PCJM is your home away from home.
I have a brand new BOOK, written with Brian Bellmont. "Whatever Happened to Pudding Pops? The Lost Toys, Tastes and Trends of the '70s and '80s." Buy it online, and follow our retro reminiscing on our GenXtinct blog,Facebook, and Twitter.

Less Kelpfroth, more Elizabeth + Policeman!
What are they being evicted for? That's probably going to be another unrealistic storyline -- it's pretty hard to evict somebody in Ontario.
I'd be annoyed about the eviction thing, but I am far too hung up on how the landlady gets her hair so perfectly elliptical.

I think the awful thing about the Kelpfroths is that they don't have kids. Are there ever any nice couples who don't have kids in this comic?
I would hate them living near me (and I'm part of a nice couple who doesn't have kids). The cigar smoke and the pounding would drive me crazy!
Didn't the landlady say before that she had no reason good enough to evict them?
You just wrong.

I'm sorry, I'm still laughing at "you just wrong."
