Coke is it, but only for a while

If you're a big fan of Vanilla Coke or Vanilla Diet Coke, you'd best stock up now: They're yanking those flavors, to replace them with the more complicated Black Cherry Vanilla Coke and Diet Coke. (Dr Pepper already has a Cherry Vanilla flavor, which tastes an awful lot like regular Dr Pepper to me.)

I love vanilla, but somehow never took to Vanilla Diet Coke, which tasted really artificial to me. So I don't mind that they're trying this, as long as they never mess with that precious nectar of the gods which is Diet Coke with Lime. (I'm still beating the drum for a caffeine-free version, but semi-grudgingly drink the caffeinated, because it's just so damn good.)

Diet Coke with Lemon, or, as I call it, Diet Coke with Lemon PLEDGE, is reportedly also going away. Good riddance!

I agree with you 100% about the Diet Coke with Lemon. Yuck-o! But, I like the diet coke with lime. Not too bad. Still, my favorite soda, diet or regualr is Barq's rootbeer. Tasty!

Diet Vanilla Coke is my favorite soda EVER! I was so sad to hear this news (my non-soda-drinking husband saw the item on Yahoo news and forwarded it to me because he knew how upset I'd be!). I already have 6 12-packs in the utility closet, and I'm going to stock up again next time I hit the grocery store. I feel like Elaine with her Today Sponges.

I never thought this would happen, but I too love Diet Coke with Lime - and I don't normally like Diet anything. But I was shopping one day and they didn't have any DC with L, so I bought Pepsi with Lime. Damned if I didn't LOVE that! So now I am a Diet Pepsi with Lime drinker, but will drink Diet Coke with Lime...any port in a storm and all that.

Diet Coke with Lime is the only type of Diet Coke I'll drink. It's delicious. Somehow that lime twist seems to kill the otherwise horrendous Diet Coke aftertaste for me. And one of my co-workers often swipes one of mine for his drive home in the summer, saying that he likes to pretend he's drinking a rum-and-Coke as he's zooming down the highway. (As long as he's just pretending, of course.)

But none of them are Fresca. Yum. Fresca.

say it isn't so! I got hooked on Vanilla and Diet Vanilla Coke when it hit the market, and have loved it ever since. I have no interest in cherry-vanilla flavored anything, so here's hoping that Pepsi keeps their vanilla variety cola in stores - after 30 years, I may just become a convert from Coke to Pepsi.

The mistake that Coke made with the DC with Lemon was to try to use "natural" lemon flavoring. What they used was lemon OIL. so when you first opened up the bottle or can, the carbonation carried the volatile oils out, giving the "Pledge" sensation. Pepsi's lemon didn't pretend to use natural flavorings, and neither did the DC with Lime.

Regular coke with Lime is indeed the nectar of the gods. Oh that it is here to stay forever!

There are so many flavors they have overlooked. How about White Pepper Coke? Cardamom Coke? Curry and Saffron Coke? Chocolate coke?

There's a whole spice rack out there, coke! There's more to life than lime, lemon and vanilla.

Noooo... I need my Vanilla Coke! It's the only Coke product that ever dragged me away from Pepsi (I don't care for Pepsi's vanilla). At least one of the grocery stores here has a suitable generic version. I hope that doesn't disappear when Coke issues a new trend. :-(

I bet chocolate coke would be really good. As for cardamon coke... I'll let someone else try it first ;)
