Wow, that sucked

How boring was "For Better or For Worse's" recent week of vacuuming? It's like Lynn Johnson made a bet: You have to buy me dinner if I can get my syndicate to accept a whole week of strips about housework.

I for one have never known anyone who had a central vacuum, but apparently they're out there.

We've got a central vacuum system in our late-1920s era house in Vancouver, BC, so maybe it's a Canadian thing? But we've never had the problem of leaving the thing open, in fact I wasn't really aware that was possible.

Yeah, that sucked. Literally.

Well I don't know what was worse a week about vacuuming or the length of time we've had to suffer through April's acne?

Anyway today's Monday (12/19) and I'm betting the person on the other end of the phone is Anthony.

I think it's Warren on the phone. Anthony will be hanging out on the Patterson family porch, baby in hand, waiting for Liz when she gets home.

Yeah, what did we get about April's face -- about 2 1/2 weeks? Yeesh.

My husband's parents have a central vac in SC, USA -- I always thought it was more of a 70's thing -- that's when their house was built.

I'm betting on freaking Anthony, too. Or maybe it's just April, calling long-distance so that we get a week of Liz listening to April bring her up to speed on the acne and the vacuum debacle.

I lived in Idaho for 2 years with a cousin - that house had central vacuuming. I thought it was pretty cool to simply carry a hose around and plug in to whatever outlet was handy!!

My fiancee's mother has a central vac in KY, and she and her husband built their house like 3 years ago. It is pretty neat, I guess.

Heh, my college dorm had central vac (built in 1960s FL) and we used to put eggs in the hole where you're supposed to connect the hose. We would also hold a bowl of dry cereal as far away from the hole as possible but close enough so that they would get sucked out of the bowl one piece at a time. Ahh, hallowed halls of learning.

I, too, think of them as a 70s thing. I knew of one house in my neighborhood in Ohio that had one, and as a kid, I was fascinated with it. And creeped out by it too, in only the way a little kid's imagination can concoct.

Thank gawd for the end of zits, the mentally handicapped, and the VACUUM. Good LORD, that was SUCK.

I think it's a Canadian thing. When you buy a new house, it's a given that central vac will be roughed in. I don't know of anyone who still uses a cart-along vacuum unit...

It was Warren. Hmm, helicopter pilot, police officer, or Anthony the loser. Decisions, decisions.

My grandparents built several of their own homes over the years and had central vaccuuming in all of them. It is pretty convenient when you don't have a haul an upright up and down three flights of stairs - you just plug in in the room you want to clean and voila! You are golden.

Since no new post about FBFW's strip today, I gotta say I love the Warren/Paul drama. I am pulling for Warren! I'd like a man who could fly a helicopter!

So that's what that was. A "Central Vac." So that's like a vacuum cleaner that you can attach anywhere in the house?

I happened to catch during the week the strip where she leaves the canister open, and I had no idea what was going on in it. I figyured the canister was like an ashtray or something.

I had never even heard of Central Vacs before this. Merci, Gael! One learns all sorts of things here.
