An architect most unlike Mike Brady

Here's a movie I'm eager to see: "The Sketches of Frank Gehry" (link goes right to trailer).

I know a lot of people sniff that his buildings all look like crumpled tinfoil, but there's something about that crumpled tinfoil that I just love.

He's done buildings in both cities that I've called home in recent years -- the EMP here in Seattle and the Fred (Frederic R. Weisman Art Museum) in Minneapolis, and he did a lot of the buildings at Rob's law school in California, too. Due to its Gehryness and its Los Angeles location, Rob is always catching sight of his law school in TV commercials.

And from the movie trailer, he seems like one heck of a pleasant guy to be around. Man, if there's a cooler image than that Weisman photo above, with all the gold and pinks and oranges all reflecting in the silver, I just don't know what it is, unless it's a shot where they pull back and you see that the museum sits high above the Mississippi River bluffs at the University of Minnesota. Exquisite.
