"That's NEW management, not those jerks from last week"

Does anyone else, when you see a giant sign trumpeting "UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT" at a store or other business, just assume to yourself that the previous management must have really sucked something awful, in order that the new business is trying to bring in new customers by separating themselves from the old way things were run?

Just me, then? Yeah, OK.

That's exactly the situation with a local sandwich shop where I now have lunch quite often. Under old management they only accepted cash, and they were always understaffed and rude. Now things are considerably better.

That's actually exactly what I assume. We had an experience in the town we used to live in where we went to a place once, hated it, and then a year later people were raving about it. Indeed, there was a big sign saying 'Under New Management' when we decided to give it a second go.

Funny you should say that...we were laughing the other day over a sign in front of a store that said,

"UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT

BYE SHARON"

Now, maybe that was supposed to be nice, and they just didn't have the letters left to put "Good luck, Sharon!" or some such, but sure seemed like a "good riddance" gesture to me.
