Easter's on its way

Hey, when did they create Orange Cadbury Creme Eggs? Has anyone tried 'em? I saw them in the store but didn't buy any.

People either love or hate the Creme Egg, it seems. It's one of the few mainstream candies that really looks like its somewhat-gross inspiration. The gooey yolk/white combo turns off many people, I suspect. I love 'em -- don't mind the eggy texture and like how it combines with the hard shell of chocolate.

Also in stores this spring: Coconut Hershey Kisses, which may be their best flavor yet. (Better than the oh-so-bland Vanilla, for which I had high hopes.) Warning: Don't try and make thumbprint cookies with any of the weird flavored Kisses. It will work with ones that are solid (the cool, tri-striped Neapolitan Kisses) but those that feature only a thin choco shell over a filling (vanilla, coconut, caramel, etc.) will melt into a puddle when placed on a hot thumbprint cookie. I speak from experience. (Photo taken before the melting commenced...)

I love Cadbury creme eggs! So much so that after a disastrous foray into the solid chocolate kind (it wasn't vile, really, but it tasted a lot like Hershey's syrup to me. Hershey's = dirt) I decided not to mess with perfection. I am not a fan of super sweet things, generally, but there's just something about that goo in there....

I actually saw and tried. My husband says they are good, not as good as the original. I say they are just as good, just in a different way.
The orange is more subtle than I thought it would be. It's a nice change from just the overwhelming feeling of gooey sugar. :)

I saw the orange cream eggs last year on a trip to San Jose. I bought some, but didn't think they were very good. Those smash and unwrap chocolate oranges are way better if you are into that combination of flavors. I like the plain cream eggs best, or chocolate ones if I can find them. I don't like the caramel cream eggs.

Peanut Blossom Cookies actually work really well with the Caramel filled kisses. Just don't push too hard on them. My family craves them now and I get many requests for them!
