Pass the fried fish on banana leaf, please

I love this Wikipedia entry on breakfasts around the world. (Via Metafilter.)

When we were in Japan, the ryokan we were staying at in Gunma Prefecture brought in dinner and breakfast, and each one consisted of a tray with about a dozen small bowls full of different offerings -- just for one person!

Which reminds me, I never thanked you properly for pointing me in the right direction to find some terrific ryokans while we were on our honeymoon in Japan. We stayed at three, all told, and each one was a highlight of our trip.

My husband and I both send our gratitude.
