My friend Ann sends this along...Princess Anne is still wearing the dress she wore to Diana and Charles' 1981 wedding. That means she's wearing the same dress at ages 57 and age 30. And, as Ann wisely points out, the dress didn't get any better looking, either.
I found it interesting that so many of the commentors on the BBC site praise her frugality. In the U.S., that article would have turned into a dogfight with people screaming about "who cares about one dress when the royals are getting all our $$ for doing nothing?" and pointing out that rewearing one dress is nothing considering the richness of the rest of her life.
Which is why we don't have a monarchy, I guess.

Sorry, but I am squarely with the Brits on this.
Aesthetic value of the dress aside, I think it's great that's she's attempting to be less wasteful and making the most of what she has. Apparently, she likes the dress and it's not really her fault that she was born a royal. Maybe she'd rather give her money to charity.
Is this really worse than the shallowness of our "American royalty" in Hollywood?
I hope I still wear the same size 27 years from now!
I don't feel so bad then, since I wear the same outfit to work everyday ... and have for many years now. I bet I have Princess Anne beat hands down
I don't think it's a matter of being frugal, I think it's a matter of having so many dresses you can wait 27 years before you wear it again!
