Dunkin Donuts may return to the Twin Cities.
You go, DD, but I have to say, I don't know that my hometowns are really a donut kind of place. The last Krispy Kreme closed there this year after arriving to giant lines in 2002.
I know East Coasters love Dunkin, but I have to say, I don't get the appeal. I think you have to grow up with it or something. They rave about the coffee, but I swear, it's like every oily, greasy, office-coffeepot cup of coffee ever. Maybe that's what they like in Boston.

What is Minnesota's answer to the donut?
I have to say, in DD defense, it depends on where I've had it. I travel from central Massachusetts, to Michigan quite often and DD is all along the route. However, the coffee? Varies! It can be quite a let down when you anticipate that coffee and get colored water, heh.
Living in Texas, I find it so weird when people mention that any large national chain is not available in their state's major cities.
We get pretty much everything.
Please let this be true. I'm a huge DD fan living in Minneapolis. There's a donut shop in Columbia Heights, right off 694 that used to be a DD and the owner still makes DD donuts. I drive out there for my fix.
I visited the east coast this summer. What is it about Dunkin Donuts? They are everywhere. Does everyone really eat that many donuts in the east. If they do they must walk it off because I didn't see nearly as many overweight people as I do in the deep south.
I was born & raised in Connecticut and I still don't understand the draw of DD. I know people who 2x or more a day, but to me the coffee is very weak and boring. I've gotten hot coffee that literally taste like nothing. Like hot water. The iced coffee is ok but I'll take Starbucks anyday of the week!
